One day Encaustic Encounter Workshop

This 1 Day workshop is a hands-on introduction to cold wax and hot wax and hot wax. The morning will be devoted to a demo and hands-on experience with oil paint and cold wax medium. Cold wax medium is a beeswax paste that requires no heating or fusing. Basic materials, tools, surfaces and techniques will be explored. The afternoon will be an overview in hot wax and a chance to explore multiple techniques including how to melt, mix and apply the wax, create texture and experiment with the use of stencil on a wood panel.

This workshop is suited for beginners and or those with experience in hot and /or cold wax

ONE DAY ENCAUSTIC COLLAGE AND MARK MAKING

This 1 day workshop offers a fresh approach to combine digital images, distressed wax layers and colorants to produce beautiful fine art collages. 

We will be working on cold press watercolor paper and carefully creating a photo composition collage. The collage is then waxed and incised layer by layer to create a complex and  cohesive artwork.  Walnut ink, metal leaf, and oil sticks are used to emphasize the engraved and scratched marks.

If students wish to bring in their own photos they may do so. Photos should be printed on a jet printer on matte paper.

This class is suited to all levels of experience.
